Sydney 7s & AFTER7S | 5-7 Feb 2016

The IRB Rugby 7s tournament was held in Sydney for the first time on 6-7 Feb 2016 and as always, Afrodownunder brought you all the information regarding the after-parties, as well as seating at the games!

Games and Seating | 6th & 7th February 2016

The tournament washeld at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park (just 10 minutes from Sydney CBD)

In order to sit close to all the action that is the renowned Kenyan cheering squad, all were encouraged to purchase ‘General Admission’ tickets so we could assemble en-masse in the lead up to each of the Kenyan games, ensuring we could all sit together as one cohesive group just as we have done every other year

TICKETS UPDATE: As of Wednesday 27th January 2016, ALL games tickets were completely sold out, making for an incredible attendance at the 7s this year!

After-parties ‘AFTER7S’ | 5th, 6th & 7th February 2016

The AFTER7S after-parties were in full effect from Friday through to Sunday nights, and were hosted at Hard Rock Cafe in Darling Harbour – an amazing water-front venue with open-air balconies to enjoy the summer night air as we partied til the wee small hours all weekend! Dress code was smart and sexy with pro photos taken across all 3 nights

Friday 5th Feb: The Welcome Party! As we all descended upon Sydney for the weekend, we kicked things off at Hard Rock Cafe from 6pm and enjoyed a Kenyan buffet from the venue’s own Kenyan chefs…or you could choose from Hard Rock’s classic menu for a mean burger and fries! We watched the sunset over Darling Harbour from the balcony and sipped Tuskers from the bar before the party started when the ever entertaining DJ Kwenda took the decks, alongside supporting DJs Maxxi Pin, K.S and Kozma. FREE raffle tickets were handed out for the chance to win tix for the games as well as Kenyan t-shirts (in preparation for game day)!

Saturday 6th Feb: This is the main (and biggest!) party night of the weekend! Being the first day of the Rugby 7s in Sydney, energy was high and the momentum real, which carried from the stadium to Hard Rock for a night to remember with Adrian of 98.4 Capital FM at the helm for his weekend debut, as well as DJ Kwenda in full effect! DJ mixtape and ‘House Of Marley’ were giveaways, and dance competitions had mad prizes up for grabs, so all needed to bring their dancing shoes and slick moves to get their hands on theirs. The Kenyan buffet was available again, so many came along early to get their fill before the party kicked!

Sunday 7th Feb: This is the final night, so we could all party exclusively with the Kenyan team as well as other players, who could now let loose and mingle with the fans given the rush of the tournament was over! All the DJs were on rotation for what was an epic finale for the weekend!
