Africa is rich and diverse, and African culture encompasses a multitude of tribes that each have their own characteristics which not only change from one African country to another, but also within a single country itself. It is important to note here that ‘Africa’ effectively existed as one land made up of different tribes, and was only divided into ‘countries’ as a direct result of colonisation, predominantly by the Europeans. However, despite the separatists’ deeds, tribal identities remain strong!

African culture extends from Africa to the African diaspora and is expressed in arts, crafts, folklore, religion, fashion and beauty, food, cuisine, music, dance and language, and is empowering to Africans and friends of Africa alike
